ID Your Dog in Style!
dog tagDog Tag Art dog tags are without a doubt the coolest, most original dog tags available. You can choose from a large collection of original designs (100 and growing!) created by artists, and then personalize your tag online with up to four lines of text. Your doggy will look mah-velous. And he/she can even roll around in the sand: The artwork is permanently sublimated on aluminum so these tags are virtually indestructible and guaranteed for life. Dog Tag Art is a small business located in Asheville, so they deserve our support. Check out all the great tags at www.dogtagart.com. Enter the coupon code AHS09 when you order your tag and a donation will be made to the Asheville Humane Society.

FreddieFreddie, shown here, is wearing his very elegant "Bond, James Bond" tag. Freddie, age 13-1/2, is the newest addition to the Bandanas family. He was adopted by Sharon and her husband from the Asheville Humane Society. Freddie likes showing off his style with his Dog Tag Art tag!

Published and written by Barry Silverstein (husband of Bandanas' owner, Sharon Wood), the blog features information tailored to dog owners in WNC and Upstate SC, including where to go, what to do, local dog news, products of interest, and more. A recent article listed all of the off-leash dog parks in WNC and the Upstate.

Chain Free Asheville - A Worthy Cause
Chain Free Asheville is a unique organization that advocates on behalf of chained dogs. Their volunteers build fences without cost for low-income families so their dogs can be free from chaining. The group was instrumental in getting an anti-tethering ordinance passed by the City of Asheville in late September.

Please consider supporting this worthy cause. For more information, visit their website: www.chainfreeasheville.org.
Doggie Recipes
Here are two great healthy recipes, courtesy of Three Dog Bakery in Asheville, so you can make some tasty appetizers for your furry friend this holiday season!

Little Eataly Meatballs
2 cups quick rolled oats
2 large eggs, 2 pounds ground chicken or turkey
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all ingredients in large bowl. Mix well using hands. Scoop tablespoon or two of mixture into a ball. Continue until mixture is used up. Bake for 40 minutes on ungreased baking pan. Cool before serving. Stores up to 3 days in refrigerator, or up to 2 months in freezer.

Say Cheese! Tail Chasers
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 large egg
1/2 cup skim milk
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup grated light cheddar cheese.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Greast 12-cup muffin pan with nonstick vegetable spray. Stir together two flours and baking powder in large bowl and set aside. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, oil, and honey with 1 cup water until smooth. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Gently fold in the cheese. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of muffin comes out clean.
