Special Issue:
The new Asheville Humane Society Adoption & Education Center | |
For 4 years, Bandanas has been a proud supporter of Asheville Humane Society. Groomer Sharon Wood does volunteer grooming, fosters animals, and donates her tips to support Asheville Humane Society's life-saving programs.
It was a long time coming, but now Asheville Humane Society's new Adoption & Education Center is open for business. It is a facility that will make every animal lover proud!
This issue of CLIPPINGS focuses on the new Adoption & Education Center because it's a place you and your family will want to visit!

The Adoption & Education Center is a showplace for the community. The exterior is an inviting red color and has a soaring front entrance. The visitor will be able to see "featured" animals right through the front windows and in the lobby. The spacious lobby houses a welcome desk, multimedia screen and some of the hundreds of tiles with the photos of companion animals that donors have honored or memorialized. The "Adopt n' Shop" retail store off the main lobby features select pet items for sale.
The Adoption Center boasts a very spacious education room, designed with a separate entrance so it can be used for meetings, classes, birthday parties, and other special events. A kitchen adjoins the education room for food preparation.
The animal care spaces are exceptional. They are airy, brightly colored areas that take advantage of natural light. All containment units are enclosed with glass or other animal-friendly materials -- no bars on the front of viewing areas!

All dogs have indoor/outdoor units and some live together in pods. Dogs have outdoor exercise areas. Puppies have their own spacious play areas. Cats' accommodations include indoor play areas and outdoor sunrooms, complete with fresh air, mesh siding, and rocking chairs.
One of the unique features of the Adoption & Education Center are three "real life" rooms. These rooms are furnished so that potential adopters can take a dog or cat into the room and envision what life would be like in a home setting with the animal.
Location and Hours
The new Adoption & Education Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 PM to 6 PM. It's conveniently located at 14 Forever Friend Lane, right off of Pond Road at Route 191 (Brevard Road). It is across the road from the WNC Farmers Market, behind Deal Motor Cars.
